Obituary for Anne Marie Jarrett (Hunter)

Anne Marie Jarrett (Hunter)

JARRETT
Anne Marie (nee Hunter) Bispels

age 91, returned to the light of Christ on December 9, 2020, passing peacefully in her sleep at home after a life well lived.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1929, she was a proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls. She enthusiastically attended class reunions with her Little Flower Sorority Sisters. Anne Marie was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Southampton for nearly 60 years, and ensured her five daughters were raised in the faith. She enjoyed the tumult of raising a large family, cherishing special holidays and birthdays, family meals and playing games together, summer days down the shore, and flying to Disney World the year it opened. That translated into Anne Marie’s delight in spending time later with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anne Marie was a collector — of friends, and stories, and laughter. With her infectuous good humor, twinkling hazel eyes, and ready smile, she made friends easily and loved to entertain them. She recounted lively stories of riding a camel in Morocco, feet in the sand on Long Beach Island, playing cards with the gals, finding the newest style clothes, jitterbugging the night away and more. The culmination of those relationships was evident at her lively 90th Birthday celebration.

A lifelong resident of Southampton, Pennsylvania, Anne Marie was very active in the Republican Club, including serving as both the Secretary and Committee Woman for several years. She enjoyed great success in the career that she started in her 50’s, first at the Bucks County Court House and then as a congressional aid at the state and federal levels. In that capacity, she was tenacious in her support of U.S. veterans, personally ensuring they received their due recognition. She also volunteered at the polls, supporting local elections.

She was a stalwart member of her condominium governing board, and a gazebo was dedicated in her honor in 2008 recognizing her service as President for 20 years, and subsequently as Vice President until her passing. She was passionate about her community, and especially enjoyed the annual Christmas caroling and luminaries.

Anne Marie is lovingly remembered by her daughters Mary Carroll Dischinger, Jacqueline Harrison (Bruce), Anne Marie Hesson (Edward), Jill Bispels, and Virginia Keller (Greg); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her many dear friends, colleagues and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John H. Bispels and William Jarrett, and partner Edward Mulley; son-in-law Frank Dischinger; parents; and siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at 10:00 AM and funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on December 15 at Our Lady of Good Council Church, 611 Knowles Ave, Southampton, PA 18966; followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020. A livestream of the Mass will be available for those who cannot attend in person at https://www.facebook.com/JamesJMcGheeFuneral.
