Obituary for Joseph P. Molloy

Joseph P. Molloy
Joseph P. Molloy passed away April 25, 2020 at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia after a spirited , brave fight. He was 54 years young. Joe was predeceased by his loving parents Joseph A. & Barbara E. Pietrak. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Patty and their adoring children, Kelly, Matthew, and Ryan. Also mourning his loss are his in laws, Jack and Ilse Walsh, his brother-in-law Joe Walsh, sister-in-law Michele (Kelly) and his nephews, Brady and Dylan Walsh.

The most important thing in Joe’s life was his family. He met the love of his life at Thunderbird Lanes and married her , despite Ilse warning Patty not to pick up an Irishman in a bowling alley. They shared 29 beautiful years together raising their three children. From the time his children were born, he always made time for them. He took them everywhere, somehow managing a toddler and twin infants. He coached his sons at the Hatboro YMCA when they played street hockey. He was also a swim official at the many swim meets his children participated in.

Joe struggled with many health issues over the years. No matter what curve ball life threw at him, Joe pushed forward for his family. He worked even when he physically couldn’t, somehow finding the strength to because he didn’t want to let his family down. He found comfort in spending time with his family in Ocean City, NJ, hosting fantasy football drafts, collecting his prized baseball cards, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Joe will be remembered by his family for his sense of humor. No matter what was going on, Joe found a way to make everyone smile and laugh, whether it be cracking a silly joke or scheming a prank. He was the brightest light in his family’s life and will be cherished forever. He was and will forever be a hero to his family.

Services for Joseph are being held privately at the request of his family. Contributions in memory of Joe may be sent to: Einstein Healthcare Network Office of Development, Braemer Building, 5501 Old York Road, Philadelphia, PA 19141, Attn: Dept. of Transplant.
