Laura Frances  Schisselbauer (Flynn)

Laura Frances Flynn Schisselbauer passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020. She was 91. Laura was the daughter of the late Bridget (Byrne) and John Flynn. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Sooy (David), Margaret Patterson (John), John, Roseanne Wise, Paul (Catherine) and Joan Hanisco (David); 23 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and her brother, Anthony Flynn and sister in-law Evelyn Flynn. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John in 2008, daughter in law, Merilee and siblings, Alice Scalzo, Catherine E. McBrinn, Mildred Flynn and Dennis Flynn.

Laura was born on December 14, 1928 in Colliers, Newfoundland. She attended the Salvation Army Grace Hospital in St John’s, where she graduated in 1949 and began working as a registered nurse in the TB Sanitarium. She later joined her lifelong friend Mary Ryan Goodacre to work with the Sisters of St Ann’s in Smithers, BC. In 1952 Laura immigrated to Philadelphia with her sisters where she met John and settled into family life.

Laura's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 10 to 11AM, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM, with Rev. Msgr. Joseph Tracy as celebrant. Laura will be laid to rest at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Laura Frances Schisselbauer may be sent to The National Shrine of St. John Neumann, 1019 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123.
