Glenn and Linda Gamble

These are words I wrote to Uncle Tony after a memorable call with him when I was in Europe: Dear Uncle Tony, I will forever remember our phone call of June 22, 2004 when I was atop the Mardasson Monument in Bastogne, Belgium talking to you about your memories of those days in December 1944. You sounded as if you were living it all over again and seeing the battlefield thorough my eyes as we talked of those events so many years ago. I was also moved by the words of the Belgian people “the Americans fought for the soil…. As if it had been their homeland” and the encryption etched in granite: “Liberatoriubs Maericanis Populus Belgicus Memor” To the American Liberators The Belgian People will not forget I will always remember and I will always be proud. I am free because of you and the men of honor and courage who fought beside you six decades ago. Your nephew, Glenn We will all miss him so much. God Bless.
