Obituary for William J. "Bill" Glassey

William J. "Bill" Glassey

William J. Glassey, 75, of Upper Southampton, passed away on Jan. 29, 2017. He was born in Philadelphia to Ann (nee Weismann) and Herman Glassey. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (nee Madonna); his sons, William J. Jr. (Hollie), Brian J. (Kathy Ann), and Brett J.; his grandchildren, Collin, Morgan, Hunter, Savannah, Brianna and Logan; his brother, David; and his mother in law, Vivian Madonna. Bill was preceded in death by his sister Joanne and his brother Herman.

Bill was a 1959 graduate of William Tennent High School. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in Vietnam for a short period. After serving 4 years in the military, he then married his wife of 54 years, Kathy. Together they brought up 3 sons and 6 grandchildren. Bill's family has always been a priority in his life and he surrounded them with his love. There are not enough words to say how much he will be missed. His wings were ready, but our hearts were not.

Bill's family will receive relatives and friends on Mon. Feb. 6 from 6 to 8:00 PM at James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave., Southampton, PA. and again on Tues. Feb. 7 from 10 to 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with services beginning at 11. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the Glassey family has requested donations in Bill's memory be made to Lymphoma Research Foundation, 115 Broadway, Suite 1301, NY, NY 10006 or lymphoma.org.
