Obituary for Steffie K Zielinski

Steffie K. Zielinski passed away on March 15, 2021 while in hospice care at Venice Regional Hospital, Florida. She was 91 years old. Steffie is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Paul; her daughter Paula and her husband, Andy, and children Paige and Drew Kinsella; her daughter Lisa and her husband, Jeff, and children Abby and Audrey Matthews; daughter Marcia and her husband, Gary, and children Blair and Dean Ellis.

Steffie was born May 7, 1929 to Tekla and Jon Koltys in Port Richmond, Philadelphia, where she resided through high school. She graduated from Jules M. Mastbaum High School in 1947 with a diploma in commerce and stenography. Steffie was Secretary of her high school class. She and Paul met and fell in love shortly thereafter and were married on May 21, 1949 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Philadelphia. Steffie worked most of her adult life as an executive secretary and full-time mom.

Paul and Steffie spent a wonderful life together, raising their three daughters in Philadelphia and Southampton, PA, and eventually moving to Boynton Beach and Venice, Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement together. Steffie lived for the sunshine; the beach was her happy place.

Steffie especially loved all her family pets, including their first poodle, Perry, with whom she shared her morning coffee. She always had treats ready for her grandpets Ace, Prints, Koda, Cleo, and Nebby. Steffie had a flair for creativity and style. She was an accomplished painter and seamstress. She made most of her own and her daughters’ clothes, Barbie doll clothes and Halloween costumes. Steffie had a giving heart and always cared for others, including her family, friends, and neighbors. She made everyone feel loved by baking and gifting her signature chocolate chip cookies, remembering everyone’s birthdays (along with accordion-folded one-dollar bills), and keeping in touch via care packages, cards and notes for every occasion and holiday.

Steffie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all their family and friends who have supported her throughout her life, and to the wonderful staff at Tuscan Gardens Senior Living and Tidewell Hospice, who made her last days comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Steffie Zielinski Memorial at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://giftfunds.stjude.org/steffiez. Funeral arrangements for Steffie are being handled by McGhee Funeral Home in Southampton, PA.

Services are being held on Monday, March 22 at Our Lady of Good Council Church in Southampton, PA.
The viewing is at 10:00 am, followed by a catholic mass at 11:00 am. She will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park in Huntington Valley, PA. Due to the COVID pandemic, in lieu of a luncheon following the funeral, the family is planning a celebration of life at a future date and will inform family and friends as plans are finalized. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Florida.
