Obituary for Donna L. Schenk (Jackson)

Donna L. Schenk (Jackson)
Donna Lee Schenk (nee Jackson) passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021. She was 86. Donna was born in McKeesport PA to Rosazella (nee Maley) and Duane Jackson. She is predeceased by her sister Sandra Weaver, and survived by her twin brother Thomas Jackson, her loving husband of 64 years, Harry William Schenk Sr.; children, Cathi Lee Ybarra (Orlando), Harry W. “Bill” Schenk, Jr. (Belinda) and Eric Thomas “Rick” Schenk (Robin), 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A devoted wife to a Korean War veteran, mother and grandmother, caring nurse, faithful Christian, and cancer survivor, Donna left a meaningful impression on every person she met, offering a warm welcome to friends and strangers alike. She was a beloved member of the Trevose community where she spent most of her life. Donna earned her diploma from Lankenau Hospital school of nursing in 1955 and spent many years as an acute care nurse while raising her three children. She later earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education while working as a school nurse. Donna worked at Bensalem township schools for over twenty years, and in her retirement she enjoyed traveling, often including family members on trips to the Poconos (where she owned a vacation home), Florida, and her favorite destination, Williamsburg, Virginia. More recently, she and her husband Harry were active members of Neshaminy Senior Center, where she leaves behind many dear friends. Donna especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they will carry her legacy of kindness and generosity forward.
