Obituary for Charles F. Geib Sr.

Charles F. Geib Sr.
After 84 years of “stirring the pot,” Charles F. Geib, Sr. passed away on the morning of Sunday, January 10, 2021. Charlie was the son of the late Regina nee McNesby and George Geib. He is survived by his beloved wife Alice nee White; his eight children, Charles, Alice, Regina, Claire, Mary Jo, Thomas, Paul, and Marikay, their spouses; and his 20 grandchildren.

Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a young man, and married Alice White shortly after. Charles and Alice spent their lives together, creating an amazing family, building a successful business, and traveling the world. His dedication to his work was second to nothing but his family. Watching them grow, he said, was the greatest joy of his life. He found great pleasure in the happiness of others, and he did all he could to see his family happy. He loved golf, blackjack, polished shoes, his tractor and Alice ever since he “took her off the shelf.” He was so passionate about the value of hard work and was infamous for finding odd jobs for his grandchildren to complete under his supervision. It didn’t matter to him what anyone did, just that they did it well, and he stressed this to his grandchildren. An honest, and hardworking man, Charles radiated joy and humor. Charles never paid mind to the structures of society, he treated everyone the same. He always knew the right time to say the wrong things, and could crack a smile from even the most stubborn person. His presence made an impact on everyone he met. Without trying or even knowing, he was an unforgettable icon: the patriarch of a massive “Treib.”

A few weeks prior to his death, he shared with a granddaughter that he lived with no regrets. His legacy will be carried on through his grandchildren who were truly the light of his life.

Charles family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 16, from 9 to 11AM, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM. Charles will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
