Obituary for John B. Mueller

John B.  Mueller
John B. Mueller (a/k/a Hans), of Southampton, was born on Feb. 27, 1921 and passed away quickly and peacefully on Sat. Aug. 29, 2020 at Southampton Estates. He was 99 and 1/2 years old. John was born in Elchesheim, Germany to Bertha (Melzer) and Peter Mueller. He is survived by his loving children, Edith Kennedy (Dale), Susanne Norman, Christine Mueller, and Michele Amey (Gregory); grandchildren, Geoffrey Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Kate Rough (Scott), Stephen Kennedy (Emily), Michael and Matthew Amey; and great grandchildren, Alice and Charlie Rough. His wife Lore (Widmann) Mueller predeceased him on Nov. 20, 2011 after 63 years of marriage.

John was a faithful member of Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church since 1955 and sang in the church choir for many years.

He was a member of Vereinigung Erzgebirge German Club in Warminster PA for over 60 years where he sang with the Franklinville – Schwarzwald Maennerchor and participated in the yearly Carnival (Mardi Gras) celebration. Besides his love for singing, he played the accordion and harmonica. He always enjoyed listening to music and had an extensive record, cassette tape and CD library.

John retired from the Budd Company of Philadelphia as a pattern maker/quality control specialist. He spent a lot of time in his home work shop where he crafted many beautiful things from wood and was truly a master craftsman and handyman, as he could fix almost anything.

He was an avid bicyclist, skier, sailor, tennis and badminton player. John also enjoyed camping with the family, always had an abundant summer vegetable garden, and would gladly play a game of cards.

John served in the Army during World War II as part of the Army Air Corps with duty in Germany, at which time he met his wife to be, Lore. He received the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He learned photography in the Army, which gave him the skills to take wedding and baseball team photos to supplement his income for his growing family.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at a date yet to be determined, at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Southampton, PA. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the Mueller family has requested donations in John's name be sent to Southampton Estates, ACTS Hospice 238 E. Street Rd., Southampton, PA 18966.
