Obituary for Alice Ryan (Sutton)
Alice (Sutton) Ryan age 98, passed away peacefully at her Upper Southampton home of 76 years.
She was born in nearby Newtown, Bucks County on June 25, 1920 to her late parents Frank and
Rose (Burns) Sutton. Alice was graduated from the Newtown High School and also the
Pierce School of Business in Philadelphia. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard J. Ryan.
Her loving brother Francis X. Sutton also predeceased her in death at age 95.
Alice is survived by her daughters Kathleen Ryan, Paula Ryan, and Nancy (Ryan) Madara, (husband Joseph);
also by grandchildren Keith Madara, Sandra M. Hill (husband Ross), and Jennifer F. Davis. In addition,
she is survived by great grandchildren John Madara, McKinna Davis, Bryan Davis, Josilyn Hill and Elijah Hill.
Most recently Alice enjoyed travels by cruise ship to various foreign ports of call. Before that she was an
active member/officer of the Upper Southampton Senior Women's Club. In prior years Alice worked as secretary for Borough of Bryn Athyn Police Department officers including her late husband, Chief Ryan. Alice was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church for over 75 years.
Alice's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 25, from 10 to 11AM, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM. Alice will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Ambler, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
