Marie F.  McHugh (Flanigan)

Marie F. McHugh, of Upper Southampton, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. She was 82. Marie was born in Philadelphia to the late Marie and Gerald Flanigan. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas H. McHugh. Marie is survived by her beloved children; Catherine McHugh, Michael McHugh, & Theresa Trainor (Timothy); grandchildren, Allyson, Thomas, Kelley, Timothy, Ryan, & Taylor; siblings, Geraldine Horan (Tom) & Helen Giovanetti; and by her sister-in-law, Dolores Byrnes (Robert) and her nieces and nephews.

Marie began her career as a switch board operator at Bell Telephone and retired as a drafting technician. She was active in the choir at Saint William and then Our Lady of Good Counsel. She was also a member of the Merritones and lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers. Marie loved going to the beach and watching "her" ocean as well as baking, drawing, playing the piano, sewing and working in her garden. She also loved going to watch her grandchildren in all their sports and theater events or just spending time playing games with them.

Marie's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 24, from 10 to 11:30AM, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30AM, with Rev. Phillip Lowe as celebrant. Marie will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, in memory of Marie F. McHugh, may be sent to Our Lady of Good Counsel School- Tuition Assistance Program.
