Obituary for Robert L. Stocks

Robert L. Stocks
Robert L. "Bob" Stocks passed away peacefully on March 31, 2018. He was 77. Bob was born in Phila. to Florence (nee Headley) and Philip Stocks. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Marlene (nee Knott); children, Karyn Wulf (Jason) and Diane Munroe (Jeff); grandchildren, Nathan and Julia; and his siblings, Cathy Navo (Joe), Joyce Reiner (Bud) and Phyllis Weber (Jim).

Bob worked for 30+ years at Rohm and Haas Company before retiring. After retirement, Bob joined Senior Transition Services and was a vibrant member of the team. A natural extrovert, Bob had a way of eliciting a smile from everyone. Bob had an extensive network of current and former colleagues he was also proud to call friends.

Bob and Marlene traveled together often, and had many wonderful excursions, again making friends new and old wherever they traveled. Bob’s passion was being on the water. He loved to sail, and in retirement his dream of owning a sailboat came true. Bob and Marlene created many wonderful memories on the Jersey Shore with family and friends over the years. In the summers and fall, if they weren’t tending to their lovely home and yard in Pennsylvania, Bob and Marlene could be found in Ocean City, Cape May or Sea Isle City with friends and family enjoying the sunshine and salt water.

Bob had a beautiful way of balancing work and fun and did both with a zest for life. Never one to sit on the sidelines, Bob kept his playful spirit in everything he did. He and Marlene hosted countless family gatherings in their home and together cooked wonderful meals bringing family and friends together. Bob was a great baker and shared his talents by making cookie trays and bundt cakes to share with others. Bob also had a deep faith and quietly with Marlene, extended their blessings to help others in many ways.

Bob was a thoughtful, loving and generous person. He had a positive outlook on life that influenced everything he did and everyone he met. He was a loving and affectionate husband, a proud and loving father and a doting grandfather. He made an effort to be present in person and spirit with his family, and he made the world a better place. He will be deeply missed.

Bob's family will receive relatives and friends on Thurs. April 5, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave., Southampton, PA. and again on Friday April 6 from 9 to 11:00 AM at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 65 E. Street Rd., Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053. Services will begin at 11AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville.

In lieu of flowers, the Stocks family has requested donations in Bob's name be sent to Contributions to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 620 Welsh Road, Horsham, PA or Concordia Trust, c/o Hartmann, 8800 Verree Road, Philadelphia, PA. 19115.
