Obituary for Diane M. Redstreake (Engle)

Diane Mary Redstreake
Diane Mary Redstreake (nee Engle) of Buckingham, PA, previously of Southampton, PA passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Diane was 79 years old. Diane was born to William Smith Engle and Violet Mary Engle at Abington Memorial Hospital on September 19, 1938. Diane grew up on her family farm in Jarrettown, PA and graduated from Upper Dublin High School in 1956. She went on to marry the love of her life, Robert T. Redstreake on May 25, 1957 and went on to raise four children; Bill, John, and the late Scott, and Debbie.
Diane and Bob were married sixty years and raised their four children in Southampton where they lived for 55 years. Diane and Bob instilled in their children and grandchildren a strong dedication to community service. Diane served her community in a number of ways. Diane was a long time member and president of The Friends of the Southampton Free Library. Diane was also a long time member of the Southampton Days Committee in a variety of roles, most notably including book editor and member of their entertainment committee. Diane was part of the planning committee for the annual Southampton Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. In 1994 Diane and Bob jointly received the Southampton Inter-service club’s Citizen of the Year award. She was also a part of a variety of home and school associations while her kids were in school.
Those who knew Diane will remember her for her warm demeanor, her eagerness to help those in need, her hospitality, and her humility. Diane was a gentle and kind person who was always there for her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
Diane is survived by her husband Robert T. Redstreake, her sisters Cynthia Shantz, Christine Engle, Colleen Dewey, her brother Roger Engle, her sons William and John Redstreake, John’s wife Claire Redstreake and grandsons Joshua and Jeremy Redstreake and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Diane will be held on Saturday October 21 at 2 pm in the Acorn Room at Wesley Enhanced Living, 200 Veterans Lane, Doylestown, PA 18901. There will be a private internment ceremony for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southampton Free Library at 947 Street Road Southampton, PA 18966.
