James J. Varian, Jr., 80, passed away on Thursday April 27, 2017. He was born in Philadelphia to Veronica nee Maher and James J. Varian, Sr. James is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara nee Flannagan; his children, Michael (Karen), Deb Heck (Rick), Ken (Judy) and Vanessa (Bill); grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Dylan and Celina.

Jim started working at A&P Food Stores in his teens, advancing over the years to head HR and was very active with union negotiations. In his retirement, he loved spending time with his family, watching sports, reading, traveling with his wife, and his cat, Smokey.

Jim's family will receive relatives and friends on Thurs. May 4, 2017 from 10 to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave., Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. Condolences may be sent to the Varian family by visiting www.McGheeFuneralHome.com.
