Obituary for Louis Tinari

Louis  Tinari

Louis A. Tinari, in his 100th year, of Upper Southampton, passed away peacefully at home on, Thursday, October 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Louis was the son of the late Concetta nee DiPrinzo and Nicola Tinari. Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Edith nee Mills; children, Louis, Jr. (Terry), Anne Erkert (Robert),Marie Costello (Joseph), Charles (Susan), Kathleen Foehr ( William),and Michael (Denise), 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and by his brother, Arthur Tinari (Edith). Louis is preceded in death by his wife Catherine nee McNamara, his grandaughter Theresa Erkert Fox, his brothers Ralph, Nick, Rocco and sister Concetta.

Born in Girardville, PA, he grew up in Huntingdon Valley, PA and attended Lower Moreland Schools. He left high school to help support his family after his father, Nicola died. He married Catherine McNamara in 1941 and moved to Southampton, PA in 1948 In 1940 he began a successful demolition and hauling business, Tinari & McNamara, Inc. and later partnered with his brothers-in-laws, James and Martin McNamara. During WWII he worked for J.D. Morrissey as a crane operator on Pier 98 loading supply ships for the troops in Europe. He ran his business, Tinari Contractors, Inc., for 75 years, and continued to work after retirement until he was 99 years old.
He was a hard-working man who loved his family and working in the demolition business.

Louis's family will receive relatives and friends on Fri., Oct. 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again Sat. Oct. 29, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Louis at 10:30 a.m. on Sat. Louis will be laid to rest with Catherine at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Louis A. Tinari may be sent to the Our Lady of Good Counsel School Tuition Assistance Fund, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA 18966.
