Obituary for James T. Norcott

James T. Norcott, 77, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012. James is survived by his loving wife, Carol (nee Stahl) Norcott, 2 devoted children; Terry (Timothy) Gibbons, and Keith (Cindi)Norcott. Mr. Norcott is predeceased by one son James G (Regina) Norcott. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Courtney, Kelsey, Kyle, and Matthew.
James was born to Patrick Norcott and Ellen (nee McLean) Norcott, on June 27, 1934. He was the eldest of 7. Mr. Norcott spent his summers, from ages 14 to 21, working on his father’s fishing boat. His labors on the boat are what enabled him to afford tuition at Manhattan College. Eventually, James graduated Manhattan College with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, in 1957. Mr. Norcott was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, since 1955, where he would later become Grand Knight of the Father Joseph A. Gallen Council, in 1990. He was employed as an Electronic Engineer, at Sperry, on Long Island. During his time in, New York, James, served as a volunteer firefighter, at the Melville Fire Department. In his 19 years of volunteering with the fire department, James, was able to achieve the rank of Captain. Later, Mr. Norcott, was employed by the NADC, in Warminster, PA. Interment is scheduled at Melville Cemetery, which is located on Sweet Hollow Road, North of Old Country Road and just South of Northern State Parkway in the Melville section of the Town of Huntington
Mr. Norcott’s family will greet relatives and friends Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Avenue Southampton PA. A noon Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for James at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Avenue, Southampton, PA. Interment is scheduled for Friday, January 13 at noon In Melville Cemetery, Melville, NY.
