Obituary for Anne Catherine Conner (Bailey)

Anne Catherine Conner passed away peacefully on Saturday June 23, 2018. She was 92. Anne was born in Philadelphia to Anna (Joyce) and Dover McKinley Bailey. She is survived by her loving children, Kathleen King (Bill), Maureen Founds (John), Kevin (Stacie), Patricia Conner (John Kennedy) and Joseph (Jeannie); grandchildren, John Founds, Joseph Founds, Kelly King, Ryan Conner, Sean Conner, Joe Conner, Danielle Conner, Billy King, Madelyn and Emma Conner.; brother, Lee Bailey (Mary), many nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Kenneth Conner, her siblings, James Dougherty, Cass Dougherty, Helen Dickey, Virginia Horan, Viola Rekos, Dover M. Bailey, Jr., Bill Bailey, Donald Bailey, and her best friend and sister-in-law, Jane Orr.



Anne graduated from John W. Hallahan High School in 1944. After high school she worked at General Accident Insurance Company. In 1947 she met the love of her life and best friend, Joseph (Ken) Conner. Anne left General Accident when she and Ken started a family soon after their marriage. Anne and Ken raised their family in St. Matthew’s parish in Northeast Philadelphia. Her daughters graduated from St. Hubert’s High School, and her sons from Father Judge High School. While her sons were enrolled in Father Judge, Anne began work as a long time volunteer at the school, working at Father Judge up until her 90th birthday. Anne loved life, enjoying time spent with her family and friends, especially during holidays and summertime vacations at the Jersey shore.



Anne's family will receive relatives and friends on Thurs. June 28, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 PM at James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave., Southampton, PA and again on Fri. June 29th from 10 to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave., Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. In lieu of flowers, the Conner family has requested donations in Anne's name be made to Father Judge High School, Friends of Father Judge, 3301 Solly Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136 or www.friendsoffatherjudge.com.
