Obituary for Eufrosina Rose Torres Brett

Eufrosina (“Rosie”) Torres Brett departed this world to be with our Lord on Monday, March 26th at the age of 74. She was beloved and respected by her family, friends, and colleagues for a life defined by hard work and generosity.

Eufrosina was born on January 1, 1944, in San Fabian, Philippines, daughter of Floro and Natividad Torres. She received her degree from University of Santo Thomas in Nutrition and immigrated to the United States to begin a career as a dietician. Afterwards, she started a family and pursued graduate studies at Temple University while developing a career with the Philadelphia Public School system. Rose, as she was known to her family and friends, was always welcoming of her home and life to others. She was a devoted practitioner of her faith and attended service at St. Augustine Church in Philadelphia, PA. where she loved to sing in the church choir. She supported Filipino charitable organizations including FAABCI, the Filipino American Association of Bucks County, Philippine Medical Association and Kayumanggi. She is proceeded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her siblings: Lamberto, Jose, Ludivina, Filomena, Melchor and Cecilia, former husband, Alistair Brett, daughter Melissa Brett Menchavez and husband Chel, and sons Rodney Brett; and Russell Brett and wife Novie; along with grandchildren Sarah and Chloe Menchavez.

Rose's family will receive relatives and friends Tues. evening from 6 to 8PM, at the James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave. Southampton, PA, and again on Wed. from 10 to 11AM at Our of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM, with Rev. Pastor Robert G. Suskey and Rev. Effren Esmilla as celebrants. Interment is to be held privately.
