Obituary for Thomas E. Sanders Sr.

Thomas E.  Sanders Sr.
Thomas E. Sanders Sr. passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Ann’s Choice Retirement Community in Warminster, PA. He was 86.
Born in Pemberville, Ohio, Mr. Sanders was a resident of Southampton for 47 years and then moved to Warminster with his wife Mary. Tom attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio. After receiving his BS in Physics, he was employed as a physicist and engineer in Philadelphia for the Navy and eventually became the Civilian Director for the Navy’s (NADC) Aircraft Navigation Laboratory in Warminster, PA. He spent many years working with NATO and travelling to Brussels integrating aircraft navigation systems for US and NATO military aircraft.
He was an active church member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church serving on several committees and also serving on the church council. His interest in gardening encouraged him to be a member and past president of the Trevose Horticultural Society. He was very proud of the numerous awards they received for their outstanding flower show submissions, as well as the awards that were presented to the Trevose Horticultural Society itself for excellence.
He shared an interest in traveling with his wife Mary. They both thoroughly enjoyed their 50th. wedding anniversary by traveling through Europe on a riverboat cruise. They also had a common interest in listening to classical music and classical organ music. They were both avid card players, and were members of Ann’s Choice Eucher Club.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Sherrill L. Huston (Steven) and his son, Thomas E. Sanders Jr. (Mary). He was the devoted grandfather to Stefanie Alt (Jason), Scott Huston, Kate Sanders, Ruth Moore (Scott), Ben Sanders and Luke Sanders. He was also the great grandfather of Margaret and Elizabeth Alt.
Tom’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at the above address.
