Obituary for Thomas R. Peters

Thomas R.  Peters
Thomas R. Peters passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017. He was 93.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Thomas moved to Philadelphia to marry the love of his life, the late Naomi (Nan) Peters. He has been a resident of Southampton for the past 65 years.

During WWII Thomas proudly servered with the Marines in the Southwest Pacific Area where he participated in the consolidation of the Northern Solomons and in the Philippines Campaign.

Before his retirement in 1984, Thomas was employed with Bell Telephone Company as a supervising outside plant Engineer for 39 years. Thomas was a faithful and active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Southampton, PA for 64 years. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 806 and past president of the Southampton Square Club.

Thomas will be remembered by his family and friends for his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. He was an avid tennis player and sports fan who loved traveling, camping and fishing.

Thomas’ family was always the center of his life. He will be truly missed by his daughters and son-in-laws, Holly Shank (Jeffrey), Amy Auld (Steven). “Poppy” will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Gregory Shank (Jennifer), Eric Shank (Jessica), Brian Auld (Amy), Emily Nicolo (Stephen) and Grace Auld. He also survived by two great-grandsons, Logan and Noah, who brought him so much joy.

Relatives and friends will be received on Fri., Sept. 22, 2107 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Rd., Southampton, PA 18966. Services will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will be in Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge, Pa. In lieu of flowers, Tom's family has requested donations in his name be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at the above address or Abington Hospice, Jefferson Home and Health Hospice, 2510 Maryland Rd., Suite 250, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
