Obituary for Bernard J. Salera

Bernard J. Salera, 71, of Bensalem, passed away on Sunday June 4, 2017. He was born in Philadelphia to Elena nee DiGermanio and Joseph J. Salera. Bernie is survived by his wife of 12 years, Bishan Huang; his son, Joseph Salera Huang; brother, Richard (Julie); sister in law, Anne Marie Salera and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernie was preceded in death by his brother, John.


He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife and son. He always pursued the best for them and made their lives happy and fulfilled. In addition to being a loving husband and father, he contributed a lot to the Greater Philadelphia community and was very active in promoting cultural activities.


He led a successful career in establishing an organization that helps international students receive education in the U.S. His kindheartedness and humorousness will forever be remembered by those whom he helped and nurtured.


Bernie's family will receive relatives and friends on Tues. June 13, 2017 from 10 to 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave., Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Bernie's name be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research (lustgarten.org).
