Obituary for Sheila E. Pierce

Sheila E. Pierce
Rev. Sheila E. Pierce, 76, of Upper Southampton, passed away peacefully on Friday March 17, 2017 with her daughter by her side. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Fannie Mae and Terry James Walker. Sheila is survived by her loving daughter, Aliesh Pierce; grandson, Christian; siblings, Robert Walker (Margaret), and Shirley Holt and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Terry, Donald and Royce.

Rev. Sheila, the founding minister of the Center of Peace, a trans-denominational spiritual community in Elkins Park, has been a compelling force for the past 17 years for hundreds of people seeking a path to a personal relationship with God.

Always a healer, Rev. Sheila began her career as a nurse, before moving on to become a health care administrator in Nebraska and Houston. Her passion was women’s reproductive health and she spent many years working with nonprofit organizations, including Planned Parenthood, that were in alignment with that passion.

Her call to the ministry was a natural progression of her compassionate, spiritual essence that led her to the Holmes Institute in California. She came to Philadelphia and founded the Center of Peace in 2001.

Sheila's family will receive relatives and friends on Tues. Mar. 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Center of Peace Church, Elkins Park Estate in Unity Hall, Elkins Park, PA 19027. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila's name may be made to The Center of Peace at the address listed above. Interment will be private.
