Obituary for Howard T. Peak

Howard T. Peak
Howard T. “Sonny” Peak, 83, of Southampton passed away peacefully on August 28, 2016. He was born in Philadelphia to Estelle (nee Bush) and Howard Peak. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Barbara; his children, Bernie (Donna), Patti Relvas (John) and Barbara Peak (John Truesdell); grandchildren, Shannon and Chelsea Peak, John Patrick “JP” Relvas and Ruianna Relvas, Brynn Peak and Colin Truesdell; his sister Joan Frey (Gerald) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert H. Peak.

Howard was a gifted athlete in high school, earning numerous all-county athletic awards for Southampton-Warminster high school (now William Tennent HS) in three distinct sports - football, basketball, and baseball. He was one of the first inductees into William Tennent's Wall of Fame. His illustrious athletic career led him to Lehigh University, where he spent one year until he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from his service, he attended and graduated from Pennsylvania State University where he met his future wife, Mary Barbara McLane. Shortly thereafter the couple were married and moved to Southampton where they raised their family. Howard was an insurance adjuster with State Farm for over 30 years. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life, proudly supporting the Blue and White of Penn State and all Philadelphia sports teams, particularly the Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers. Howard was a competitive bowler and loved playing the game of golf, as well as coaching various sports teams in his local community. He will be missed by everyone he knew and loved.

Howard’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave., Southampton, PA. Services will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Peak family has requested donations in his name be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
