Obituary for
Lorraine Newsome (Schwarz)
Lorraine Frances Newsome, 54 years young, of Horsham, passed away peacefully on Wed. May 25, 2016. She was born in Meadowbrook, PA to Shirley (nee Lingerman) and Edward C. Schwarz. Lorraine is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Rick Newsome; her adoring sons, Drew, Derek and Brandon; her mother, Shirley; her sister, Theresa Boileau; many nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Kathy and Carolyn. Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Edward, on April 13, 2016.
Lorraine worked for many years in the healthcare field as a medical assistant, spending over 15 years of dedicated service with Dr. Ronda Karp of Horsham, PA. But first and foremost, Lorraine was the consummate wife and mother, totally dedicated to her sons and husband. She was the ultimate soccer mom who spent countless hours and drove thousands of miles to and from her sons’ games, up and down the East Coast. Everyone who knew Lorraine knew she had a boisterous spirit, a contagious laugh and a complete and total love of life. Her family will miss her dearly.
Lorraine's family will receive relatives and friends on Tues. May 31, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 AM at James J. McGhee Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave., Southampton, PA 18966. Services will begin at 11:00 at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler. In lieu of flowers, should family and friends desire, the Newsome family has requested donations in Lorraine's memory be made for Brandon’s college education at the First Niagara Bank, 732 Norristown Rd., Maple Glen, PA 19002, (Attention Assistant Branch Manager). Checks should be made payable to “Richard F. Newsome”.
The Newsome family would also like to extend special thanks to all the people who have cared for Lorraine as she has battled her disease. Specifically, Dr. Jason Damsker and his team at Abington Hematology and Oncology in Willow Grove who had a significant impact on Lorraine’s quality of life over the past several years. We must also mention our friends at the Breathing Room Foundation in Jenkintown who we can never thank enough for their generosity. Finally, the hospice specialists at the Keystone House in Wyndmoor who provided Lorraine with comfort and care at the final stage of her battle.
